The UNHCR refugee site planning application is designed to assist field personnel during humanitarian emergencies by supporting the development of refugee sites in accordance with recognized international standards, such as the SPHERE guidelines and UNHCR best practices. While the tool offers valuable guidance, it is important to emphasize that it does not substitute for the expertise and experience required for comprehensive site planning and construction.

For detailed construction planning and finalization of refugee camps and transit centers, consultation with qualified specialists—including site planners and shelter experts—is strongly recommended.

This application is integrated into the DISP® software suite developed by HITEC Luxembourg, providing a set of key components:

<li>Site Planning Standards: Guidelines for site selection and planning based on established standards.</li>
<li>Site Planning Calculator: A tool to determine site requirements based on the number of refugees or refugee families.</li>
<li>Site Geo Data: Functionality to submit GPS location data for site mapping and verification.</li>
